Moscow (PNA/Sputnik) — A terrorist attack at a Somali hotel in the nation’s capital Mogadishu killed at least 15 people and wounded 25 others, local police said Saturday.

Most of those killed and wounded were passers-by and customers of nearby stores, the CNN news channel cited police colonel Mohamed Abdulkadir as saying.

A senior police official said fighting is continuing inside the Naso-Hablod hotel after it was stormed by militants, reportedly belonging to the al-Shabaab Islamist group.

A car bomb was detonated at the gate ahead of the attack. Islamists reportedly took people hostage inside the hotel, which is popular with foreigners and officials. (PNA/Sputnik) BNB/RSM
