TD ‘Ambo’ Weakens into LPA After Making Landfall in Aurora

Public storm warning signal has been lifted as tropical depression “Ambo” has weakened into a low pressure area after making landfall in Aurora province on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Robert Badrina said “Ambo” made landfall in Dinalungan, Aurora around 12:30 a.m.

Badrina said that as of 4 a.m., the LPA was spotted west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

He said the LPA has a slim chance to re-intensify into tropical depression since it is in the land and expected to dissipate.

However, Badrina said the LPA will bring rains in northern Luzon while the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao.

For Friday forecast, Badrina said the presence of LPA and ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Zamboanga Peninsula and ARMM and the provinces of Palawan, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato and Sarangani.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southeast will prevail over Morthern and Central Luzon and coming from the southwest to southeast over the rest of Luzon. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest to southeast with slight to moderate seas.

The state weather bureau has not issued gale warning as the fisherfolks are safe to venture into the seas. (PNA) JMC/CLTC
