Russia Makes Video Gaming An Official Sport

RUSSIA – The Russian Ministry of Sport made an announcement that on June 18, 2016, video gaming will be an official sport in Russia.

Video gamers will be treated the same as cyclists, football players, basketball players, tennis players, and all sort of sports.

These video gamers can apply for sponsorship and can even compete for official athlete ranks such as ‘Master of Sport of the Russian Federation’.

But as of the moment, ‘cybersports’ still is not yet finely broken down into a formal discipline in Russia.
