Family From Jagna Wins Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya Provincial Search
The Garay Family of Barangay Can-upao, Jagna won this year’s Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya Bohol Provincial Search vesting over 40 entries.
Marissa and her husband Vicente didn’t expect to win because according to them they were just merely sharing their family story.
“We are excited and happy because this came as a surprise to us,” Marissa shared.
The couple has seven children, three of them are Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries and they are Aria Venice, Lee Mark and Vic Jun.
Their eldest Ivy is an electrical engineering graduating student, Rose Marie the second child is now a third year college student taking up Bachelor of Education, Prince is in day care and the youngest Vincent Ian is only two months old.
Pantawid Pamilya is the conditional cash transfer of the Philippine government that invests in the education and health of indigent households with children aged 0-18. It is implemented under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
To recognize its exemplary partner-beneficiaries, DSWD is annually looking for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya who will be automatically included among the pool of family ambassadors of the program.
The search acknowledges families who maintain strong family ties, demonstrate positive Filipino values and have a positive impact in the community where they reside.
Other provincial winners are the Alingasa Family of Barangay La Libertad Sur, Catigbian (second place) and Manginsay Family of Barangay Hunan, Buenavista (third place).
They will receive cash prizes, certificates, transportation assistance and DSWD merchandise.
Carmelita Tecson, Bohol Provincial Social Welfare Development Officer together with Pastor Abrinigo Gasco, provincial director of I. Help and Dr. Wilfreda Flor, Education Program Supervisor, Department of Education- Bohol served as the judges during the provincial search.
The top provincial winners will automatically compete for the regional search and the regional winner will also serve as the official entry of the DSWD-7 to the national search.
Awarding for the regional search is slated on July 8, 2016 in Cebu City.
