Over 22,000 Job Vacancies Up for Grabs in DOLE’s Independence Day Job Fair

More than 22,000 local and overseas jobs will be available on Sunday, June 12, when the Department of Labor and Employment through the National Capital Regional Office mounts the 2016 Kalayaan Job Fair on the occasion of the 118th anniversary commemoration of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

This was the gist of the report yesterday of DOLE Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Nicon Fameronag to Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, who is in Geneva attending the 105th International Labor Conference.

“The DOLE joins the nation in commemorating the 118th Anniversary of Philippine Independence with nationwide job fairs, one of which is the 2016 Kalayaan Job Fair at the Rizal Park,” said Fameronag in his report.

The commemoration is anchored on the theme, “Pagkakaisa, Pag-aambagan, Pagsulong.”

The DOLE-National Capital Region, the host-organizer of the job fair, is partnering with 81 employers/companies from all over the metropolis to offer jobs to job seekers.

This year’s Kalayaan Job Fair, according to DOLE-NCR Regional Director Nelson Hornilla, is sponsored by SMART Communications, Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc. (FFCCCII), and the Philippine Association of Local Service Contractors (PALSCON), all regular DOLE partners in its job fair activities.

The participating companies include 65 local employers offering 7,072 local jobs; and 16 land and sea-based licensed overseas recruitment agencies with 15,800 job vacancies.

Most of the local job vacancies are for professional and technical-vocational workers.

Some of the vacancies are as follows:

Cyber services industry: customer service representatives; call center agents; reporting specialists; facilities managers; technical support representatives; collection specialists; network processing associates; data analysts; sales support representatives; accounting specialists; IT professionals; messengers; graphic artists; web developers; web designers; systems administrators; systems programmers; sales consultants; technical support staff; call center engineers; service engineers; logistics staff; HR supervisors; visual artists; encoders; technical engineers; and senior web and graphics designers.

In the hotel and restaurant/tourism industry, the vacancies are for front desk officers; waiters/waitresses; room attendants; bellman; kitchen helpers; concierge; laundry staff; maintenance staff; shift managers; dining personnel; dining supervisors; kitchen personnel; production crew; restaurant management trainees; cooks; stewards; quality controllers; store/area managers; HR administrative assistants; recruitment staff; accountants; commissary operations managers; store supervisors; event specialists; uniform and linen supervisors; and room attendants.

In the health and wellness industry, the vacancies are for branch operators; sales supervisors; sales consultants; branch operations associates; front desk officers; marketing assistants; new account consultants; therapists; pharmacy assistants; pharmacists; massage therapists; cashiers; receptionists; medical technologists; radiologic technicians; clinic managers; company drivers; air conditioning technicians; manicurists; salon managers; salon stylists; beauty consultants; and beauty therapists.

In the wholesale and retail trade industries, the needs are for sales associates; sales marketing officers; cashiers; store supervisors; accounting assistants; office staff; production assistants; office management trainees; store management trainees; assistant brand managers; account executives; security guards; merchandisers; stockman; inventory assistants; store clerks; auditors; credit & collection associates; merchandisers; warehouse managers; and drivers.

In the construction industry, there are vacancies for architects; electrical engineers; safety officers; safety engineers; field engineers; civil engineers; pipe welders; heavy equipment drivers; surveyors; formworks engineers; rebar engineers; estimators; senior electrical design engineers; senior mechanical engineers; masons; carpenters; design and cost engineers; welders; material control engineers; painter; and truck drivers.

In the automotive industry, the vacancies are for motor pool staff; tinsmiths; auto painters; washers; machinists; transport associates; drivers; electroplaters; auto electricians; assembly line technicians; chassis fabricators; and welders.

In banking, education, insurance, finance, logistics, and real estate, most of the vacancies are for chemists; branch managers; sales assistants; industrial engineers; industrial designers; billing assistants; janitors; service estimators; service warranty assistants; financial analysts; bank tellers; relationship officers; accounting clerks; branch managers; administrative assistants; guidance counsellors; payroll clerks; admission officers; housekeeping engineers; human resource officers; physical plant officers; training officers; couriers; teachers, and auditors.

“The celebration of the nation’s Independence Day anniversary is a timely occasion for the DOLE to facilitate the employment of the jobless and further heighten its partnership with private industry, and other sectors in generating more job opportunities to ensure workers’ employability and productivity,” Baldoz said.
