Capitol Green Lights Southern Town’s Php98-M Waterworks Project
The Cebu Provincial Government has given the go signal for the bidding of the Php98-million Alegria Integrated Potable Water Supply Project in the southern Cebu town of Alegria, some 115 kilometers from Cebu City.
Cebu Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Roldan Saragena said the bidding will proceed after they received a “No Objection Letter” (NOL) 1 for the subproject of the Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP).
“With the issuance of NOL-1, the province has to open an account for its 10 percent counterpart to the subproject. Then, the public bidding follows,” Saragena said.
The level II water system will benefit some 3,877 households in eight of nine barangays in Alegria.
These barangays are Montpeller, Guadalupe, Madridejos, Poblacion, Valencia, Compostela, Sta. Filomena and Legaspi.
The National Project Coordination Office of the Department of Agriculture’s PRDP issued the no objection letters.
After a successful bidding, a NOL-2 will be issued to proceed for the awarding of the contract.
Other projects in Cebu funded under the PRDP include the rehabilitation of the 7.8-kilometer farm-to-market-road (FMR) from Looc to Talisay in Santander town, the 15.5-km FMR from MacArthur to Buenavista in Tudela town in Camotes Island, the 25-km FMR from Nahus-an to Poblacion in Sogod town and the 6.58- km FMR from Agujo to Tapilon in Daanbantayan town.
There are also eight road rehabilitation sub projects totaling about 76.15 kilometers that are under feasibility study for inclusion in the PRDP. (PNA) LDV/EB/EDS
