Central Visayas Cop Chief Tells Law Enforcers to Use Moral Courage Against Illegal Drugs
A top Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 official has reminded law enforcers to use moral courage, not just physical courage, in fighting the illegal drug trade.
Chief Superintendent Patrocinio Comendador Jr., PRO 7 director, said the police should resist the lure of money.
“If you let the system swallow you, the more corruption will fester and the more illegal drugs will spread, and there will be no end to the problem,” he said.
Comendador described the anti-narcotic campaign as a “critical job” because of its temptations.
He said there will be no end to the drug menace unless corruption is fought, too.
If an officer accepts PHP100,000 in exchange for downgrading or not filing complaints against a drug pusher, he said the suspect will find a way to recover the amount from the market.
“There will be no end,” he said.
Comendador said the police already have a list of drug personalities operating in Cebu and other parts of the region.
He said he will submit a list of drug lords operating in Cebu and Central Visayas to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, after the latter takes oath as president on June 30.
One of the incoming president’s campaign promises was to suppress crime, including illegal drug trafficking, in his first three to six months in office. (PNA) FFC/EB/EDS
