No Areas Declared Failure Of Election — Comelec
Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chair Andres Bautista said there are no areas that declared failure of election this 2016 National Elections.
In a briefing at the National Canvassing Center at Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Bautista mentioned there have been reports that wrong ballots were sent in polling centers in Cebu.
“There have been reports, for example in Cordova, Cebu, wherein ballots were sent there were wrong ballots and we want to know how it would impact the elections,” he said.
“There were other misdeliveries (of ballots) but they were corrected in time,” he added.
Common glitches reported on Monday’s election were related to vote counting machines (VCMs).
The COMELEC chair mentioned that as of 4 p.m., only 2.55 percent of total 92,509 VCMs or 2,363 were called in this year.
In 2013 elections, 4,760 out of 77,829 machines were called in or a high of 6.11 percent, Bautista added.
“So you could see that it is much lower than of 2013 and almost similar to that of 2010,” he said.
Bautista, on the other note, said the poll body has yet to identify the turnout of elections this year. (PNA)
