The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), will hold the annual scientific conference and general membership assembly for its members who are based in Visayas on May 23 at the University of San Jose Recoletos, Cebu City.

The scientific conference’s theme is “Research Innovation for Inclusive Development in the Visayas Region”, same theme that the NRCP scientific conference held last March in Manila had, but will focus in the region this time.

Timely topics and presentations on the latest initiatives and efforts to espouse inclusive development in research planning and program development will be the conference highlights.

NRCP has 3,900 members. About 700 of them attended the assembly last March in Manila.

Marieta Sumagaysay, NRCP executive director, said the Council will conduct regional assembly so that members from Visayas and Mindanao can opt to attend the scientific gathering within their region.

The Council, meanwhile, cited that members from Regions 6, 7 and 8 will benefit from the expertise and ideas of high caliber resource speakers during plenary sessions.

Edgardo Gomez, newly-elected NRCP president, will be the keynote speaker.

There will also be poster exhibitions and competition during the assembly. (PNA) LDV/MCCA
