CCCI Leads Business, Sectoral Groups In Commitment To Support Government
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) signed a memorandum of agreement with the City of Cebu during its quarterly general membership meeting last month at SM Seaside as testament of the functional collaboration between partners and to develop governance protocols.
Signing on behalf of the CCCI was then president Ma. Teresa B. Chan while Mayor Michael Rama represented the city government of Cebu.
The MOA aims to strengthen the collaboration between CCCI and the government in the fulfillment of shared objectives and deliverables on at various levels: programs, projects, policies and action agenda.
The CCCI, through Chan, expressed its gratitude to the different business and sectoral organizations for their commitment to support the government in effectively delivering defined outcomes in the economic growth and development.
This effort is aimed at strengthening and improving the functionality of the relationship at various fronts with longer term initiatives and accountable bodies in addition to engagement in the city development council.
Chan, now the immediate past president of CCCI, said, “The rapid economic progress of Cebu requires the participation of all sectors. The full support that business gives to government, ensures a balanced growth.”
“The complexity of the current global environment compels us to be more competitive, collaborative and integrative by addressing the needs and requirements for Cebu’s growth and development, including neutralizing the obstacles that impede better performance,” she said.
“While the Philippines is now closing in on China in GDP growth, Cebu today is even doing much better with an average growth rate of 8.8% in the last five years,” Chan added.
The groups that signified their intention to collaborate with government and rigorously participate in the new global economy anchored in the fast-growth and development of the City as well as the Province of Cebu were: Cebu Business Club (CBC), Philippine Exporters Confederation – Cebu (Philexport – Cebu), Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation, Inc. (CFIF), Hotel Resort & Restaurant Assn. of Cebu (HRRAC), Visayas Tourism Congress Philippines, Cebu Pharmacists Association, Inc., Phil. Association. of Real Estate Boards (PAREB) – Cebu Realtors Board (CEREB), Cebu Contractors Association (CCA), Philippines Retailers Association – Cebu (PRA – Cebu), Financial Executives of the Philippines – Cebu (FINEX – Cebu), Cebu Bankers Club, Philippine International Seafreight Forwarders Association – Cebu (PISFA – Cebu), Chamber of Customs Brokers Inc. (CCBI), and the Philippine Society for Industrial Security (PSIS).
CCCI encourages other business organizations and sectoral groups to join in this advocacy initiative.
