Philippine Remains Storm-Free Until Weekend

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday the country will remain storm-free in the next three days.

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Benison Estareja said the agency has not seen any weather disturbance near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) that may develop into tropical cyclone until weekend.

He said the agency expect zero to one tropical cyclone to affect the country this month.

Meanwhile, warm and humid weather will continue in most parts of the country in the next three days due to the presence of easterlies or warm winds.

He said the presence of easterlies will bring high temperatures and good weather conditions in the coming days as the state weather bureau advised people to wear lightweight and light-colored clothing, and drink plenty of water.

He advised residents of places directly hit by the heat of the sun, without trees, and surrounded by concrete roads would feel much hotter.

Despite a warmer weather, he noted the occurrence of isolated rains will still prevail due to localized thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

He explained that the convective activity brought about by intense heat triggers the formation of more cumulonimbus clouds or dark clouds associated with thunderstorms that bring rains.

For Friday forecast, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail throughout the entire archipelago with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will over eastern section of the country.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the north to northeast will prevail over extreme northern Luzon and coming from the east to northeast over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.

The state weather bureau also did not issue gale warning as fisherfolks are safe to venture into seas. (PNA) JMC/CLTC
