Hundreds Avail Free Services In Upper Laguerta Lahug

“Nalipay gyod mi Sir ug dako among pasalamat nga nianhi mo sa among Sityo bisan layo, dako gyod ni ug tabang sa katawhan nga matubag among panginahanglan (We are very happy Sir and thankful as well that you come here in our Sitio even if it is far, this is really of great help to the people that our needs will be answered),” said Lola Gertrudes Caparida, 74, who is one of the hundreds of residents of Sitio Upper Laguerta in Barangay Lahug who availed of the free services through the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” this morning March 28, 2016 Monday.

In an interview with the BARUGG News, Lola Gertrudes who availed of the medical consultation further shared that the activity is of great help to the Cebuanos to save money, time and effort in going to the different offices in Cebu City Hall just to avail their services.

For Marife Nogueras, 53, who also availed of the medical consultation she shared that, “This is a laudable program of Mayor Michael Rama, our place is well taken cared of by his administration because the government services are already accessible.”

Sitio Upper Laguerta is one of the many Sitios in Barangay Lahug which is situated in the hilly side of the village and about 30 to 45 minutes away from Cebu City Hall.

Residents Sitio Upper Laguerta will ride a motorcycle for P20 fare from their village to the highway as their transportation.

Looking back, it the year 2012 the Rama administration poured in projects and various services in Sitio Upper Laguerta and paved the way in creating a road which can be passed by four wheel vehicles from the highway to the Sitio.

Meanwhile, services from the 22 departments comprising this city also poured in the village today. These included the Medical and Dental Services; Birth, Marriage and Death certificates consultation; Legal Consultation; Real Property Consultation; Repair and Installation of Street Lights and Artesian Wells; Cedula issuance; Seedling distribution; and Pet registration and vaccination.

Pre-screening on Job Fair Employment referral; Free hair-cutting; Drainage and Road Maintenance; Traffic issues and Concerns consultation; Blood typing, blood sugar testing, and internal medicine distribution; Mass Feeding; Cutting and trimming of trees; Urban Poor Related issues consultation; Seminar and orientation of drug related issues; and Information dissemination, among several others were also offered.

For the uninformed, the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” is an initiative of Mayor Rama which he started in the year 2010. It aims to bring the basic services from the 22 Departments comprising the Cebu City Government closer to the people and avail it for free without going to the City Hall.
