Almost 15,000 Guests Flock To Mambukal Resort During Holy Week

Almost 15,000 Negrenses and visitors flocked to the provincial government-run Mambukal Resort in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental during the Holy Week.

The arrival of 14,529 guests earned the resort P1.065 million in revenues from March 24 to the afternoon of March 27.

Resort manager Ellen Marie Jalandoni said an increase of 1,166 guests was noted this year, from only 13,363 for the same period in 2015.

There is a decrease of P67,075 from last year’s revenue of P1.133 million although Jalandoni said this year’s revenue is based only on the collected sales at the resort.

Payments of guests who made early reservations at the Mambukal Office at the Provincial Capitol are excluded.

Most of the income was generated from the fees for the use of swimming pool and dipping pool, and resort entrance fees.

Jalandoni said the positive trend on the revenues shows that many people still come to Mambukal despite the presence of many other resorts with more affordable rates in the province.

“Thus, more developments are being pushed at the resort like repair and additional accommodation facilities so that it can cater and provide better services to more guests, and be able to maintain its status as one of the premier tourist destinations in the province,” she said.

The provincial government is proposing the P84.8-million renovation and construction of Mambukal Mountain Resort Hotel and Convention Center. (PNA) LAP/NLG/EPN
