Capitol Gets P7M DILG Award
or gaining the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award in 2015, the Cebu Provincial Government received P7 million cash incentive from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) last March 10, 2016.
Provincial Treasurer Emmanuel Guial at the DILG office accepted the said amount.
Meanwhile,the SGLG awarding ceremonies was held last July 14, 2015 with Gov. Davide receiving the plaque and cheque replica from then DILG Secretary Mar Roxas.
This is the second year in a row that Capitol received the SGLG award from DILG.
“It means that the Provincial Government is practicing the Full Disclosure Policy which means we are not hiding anything from the public,” explained Guial for once again receiving the award.
The Provincial Treasurer also added that the cash reward will be used for the construction of an intensive care unit (ICU) in the Cebu Provincial Hospital – Danao City.
The 2014 cash incentivewas spent on the waterworks system in the Municipality of Tudela.
Furthermore, out of 136 local government units in Region 7, eight municipalities from the Cebu Province also got the said award.
These towns are San Remigio, Bantayan, Medellin, Malabuyoc, Oslob, Dalaguete, Dumanjug and Argao.Each municipality got P3 million.
According to Socorro Dorina Salas, Performance Challenge Fund Regional Focal Person, the awardees had topass certain criteria as well as submit their accomplishments.
“To be recognized, there are three important factors that they had to pass: (1) Social Services, (2) COA Findings, and (3) Disaster Preparedness,” she added.
As to the delay of issuance of the cash incentive, Salas explained that, “it really takes time and it depends on theprocessing of the LGU’s of their requirements like MOA, resolutions, and other important documents.”
More so, all nine awardees already claimed their cash incentives.
