Tail-end of Cold Front, ‘Amihan’ Bring Light Rains on Wednesday
Expect rains in most parts of Luzon on Wednesday because of the effects of the northeast monsoon and tail-end of a cold front, the two dominant weather systems affecting the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its advisory, PAGASA said tail-end of a cold front now affects Bicol Region while the northeast monsoon prevails over Northern and Central Luzon.
The tail-end of a cold front is the front boundary of two air masses, which produces clouds and rain.
For Wednesday forecast, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Bicol Region and the provinces of Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Marinduque and Samar while cloudy skies with light rains will be experienced over the regions of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera and the province of Aurora.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains is expected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.
The state-run weather bureau issued a gale warning due to the strong to gale force winds associated with the weakened northeast monsoon as the sea condition would be moderate to rough in the northern seaboards of Northern Luzon.
“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are alerted against moderate to rough seas,” it warned.
It added moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
