‘Amihan,’ Tail-end of Cold Front to Bring Rains Over Luzon Monday

Cloudy and rainy weather would still prevail in most parts of Luzon on Monday because of a tail-end of a cold front and northeast monsoon — the two weather systems affecting the country– according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said the northeast monsoon or “hangin amihan” affecting Northern Luzon while tail-end of a cold front affecting the eastern section of Central and Southern Luzon.

For Monday forecast, PAGASA said cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flash floods and landslides will be experienced over the provinces of Aurora and Quezon while light to moderate rains is expected over Isabela and Bicol Region.

Cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Visayas and Mindanao.

It added moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the northeast to north over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.

The state-run weather bureau also issued a gale warning due to the effects of northeast as the sea condition would be rough to very rough due to strong to gale force winds is expected to affect eastern seaboards of Luzon.

“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned.

Meanwhile, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the low pressure area (formerly tropical depression Onyok) has already dissipated.

Aurelio also said that within the next two to three days no weather disturbance seen near the PAR. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
