Phl Embassy in Doha Launches Cervical Cancer, Prostate Cancer Awareness Campaign
The Philippine Embassy in Doha, in cooperation with the Filipino Medical Association in Qatar (FMAQ), launched the Cervical and Prostate Cancer Awareness Campaign on November 20 at the Embassy grounds. The campaign is part of the Embassy’s Gender and Development continuing program aimed at promoting health and wellness among Filipinos in Qatar.
The lecture/forum conducted by volunteer doctors from the Filipino community, Dr. Emirah Latiph-Tamano and Dr. Mohammad Minanga, raised awareness on health issues related to cervical cancer and prostate cancer detection and prevention. The lecture forum was attended by more than 50 Filipinos who actively participated in the Q&A session.
As part of the campaign, the embassy also facilitated the registration for a discounted HPV vaccination which may be availed of in designated duly accredited clinics in Qatar. The lecture/forum will also be conducted in January 2016 as part of the Cervical Health Awareness Month.
