Cebu City Development Body Okays PHP18B Projects for 2016
The Cebu City Development Council (CDC) has endorsed to the Cebu City Council more than PHP18 billion worth of programs and projects for next year.
The bulk of the proposed 2016 Annual Investment Plan (AIP), or P6 billion, will go to programs and projects under the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW).
The proposed AIP for 2016 is more than the 2016 proposed annual budget of the executive department of PHP8.9 billion.
The AIP includes PHP500 million for the construction of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), PHP200 million for the construction of Carbon Market Unit 2, PHP100 million for the construction of a new abattoir, PHP85 million for road concreting with drainage in mountain barangays in the north and PHP60 million for mountain barangays in the south.
It also includes PHP290 million for road concreting in urban barangays in the north and PHP220 million for the southern urban barangays.
In the proposed 2016 annual budget, though, the CCMC project gets an allotment of only PHP300 million and the Carbon Market Unit 2 is allotted PHP100 million.
The annual budget does not provide funds for road projects in the barangays.
The AIP also provides funds for programs and projects of the General Services Office, PHP2.1 billion; the Office of the Mayor, PHP1.3 billion; Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor, PHP1.06 billion; infrastructure for the South Road Properties, PHP842 million; and the Local Development Fund, PHP386 million.
