UN Says Boats with Migrants Sink in Mediterranean Sea, 200 People Missing

Moscow (PNA/Sputnik) — At least 200 migrants are missing after their boats sank in the Mediterranean Sea on Wednesday, BBC reported citing UN refugee agency.

Each year, thousands of illegal migrants, mainly from Africa, try to cross the Mediterranean Sea in an attempt to reach the European coasts.

According to the International Organization for Migration, over 2,900 migrants have died in the Mediterranean in 2014. (PNA/Sputnik) LAM/RSM
