‘Mayor Will Not Issue Permit to Separator Destroyer’

Talisay City administrator John Yre delos Reyes on Tuesday said the mayor will not issue any clearance to any individual, groups or company who destroyed the road separator structure in barangay Bulacao, Talisay City.

“That report from The Freeman is a blatant lie because my father will not tolerate any wrongdoings”, Delos Reyes said.

Delos Reyes referred to the news in The Freeman newspaper quoting Talisay City Mayor Johnny delos Reyes(JVR) to allegedly issue a mayor’s permit and clearance to the one who destroyed the separator last Sunday afternoon.

That was the time when the mayor ordered the confiscation of said dump truck utilized by a man who destroyed the separator without permit or clearance authorizing him to do so.

Because he personally witnessed the incident while he was on the way home, mayor JVR immediately called up his son John Yre, together with some policemen to investigate the person concerned and confiscate his dump truck.

However, the truck was immediately returned to its owner last Monday.

According to delos Reyes, his father will not violate an existing ordinance approved by the past administration banning the removal of said road separator near a big animal distribution establishment in Bulacao.

“During the time of former Vice Mayor Alan Bucao, there were attempts of request to open that portion there by removing the road separator but it was never approved because of an existing ordinance”, Delos Reyes said.

Delos Reyes said that because of an existing ordinance, mayor JVR may set the restoration of the said separator within this week, to show that he pays respect to it, he added.

He said the construction of said separator was made during the past administration, with a local government unit (LGU) budget amounting to P2.5 million.

Delos Reyes added that the purpose of the structure is to minimize traffic congestion in that commercial area of the city.

The past administration saw the traffic woes in that area where cars, bus, tricycles, trisikads, including pedestrians are made to cross anytime and anywhere within that kilometer distance between the barangays of Bulacao and Tabunok.

Because of this problem, they approved an ordinance creating and constructing road separator to address the problem.

“So what would happen if we will agree that said area near that big commercial establishment will be opened to the public, we could never control anymore the traffic which ultimately allow the public blame to mayor JVR”, Delos Reyes said.
