Overwhelmed but Embracing Change: LinkedIn Reveals How Filipino Professionals are Adapting to AI

LinkedIn’s latest research reveals that generative AI is reshaping how professionals in the Philippines approach their work. With 76% of respondents expecting significant job changes due to AI in the coming year, there’s both excitement and apprehension.

While 57% feel overwhelmed by AI’s potential impact, 41% worry about keeping up. Nevertheless, 69% express a desire to learn more about AI, even without knowing where to start. Already, 55% of the workforce uses generative AI, with millennials and GenZ leading at 46%.

Professionals are keen on AI’s potential benefits, with 97% excited to use it, believing it will aid career progression (95%). Moreover, 55% believe AI will create job opportunities outside metro areas, leveling the playing field in the job market.

In terms of AI’s role, 69% feel it will boost confidence by providing quick access to knowledge. Over 81% plan to use AI to solve problems, while 77% will use it to ask questions they’re hesitant to ask colleagues. Additionally, 71% believe AI will automate tedious tasks, freeing them to focus on exciting work, and 65% see AI as a tool for career advice.

Soft skills, coupled with AI skills, are seen as crucial, with problem-solving (77%), creativity (77%), and communication (76%) expected to gain importance in an AI-driven workplace.

Moreover, professionals anticipate AI improving job satisfaction (62%) and work-life balance (57%). They plan to invest their newfound free time in learning new skills (51%) and expanding their professional networks (39%).
