University of Cebu (UC) has donated P2.5 million worth of cash for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda, which hit central Philippines a week ago–the strongest that was ever recorded this 2013.

The P500,000 donation will be coming from the University of Cebu Teachers’ Association  (UCTA), who decided to give up their Christmas party this year to extend help to the survivors. While the additional P2 million would come from the UC administration, headed by its President Atty. Augusto Go.

“Atty. Go called the attention of all teachers and held a serious meeting…that was a very serious meeting… We discussed about the typhoon victims…that he (Atty. Go) wants us to take part in helping especially to our co-teachers who are also typhoon victims themselves..”, said Cafarino Manigos, UCTA president.

UCTA’s Christmas party is pegged at P500,000 and due to the said catastrophe, the amount of money will be spent for relief goods instead. The total cash donation will be coursed through UC Cares for the Relief Fund based in UC Banilad.
