Trough of LPA to Bring Rains Over E. Visayas, parts of Mindanao Tuesday

(PNA) — Expect cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers over parts of Eastern Visayas, Caraga Region and Northern Mindanao on Tuesday due to trough of low pressure area (LPA) affecting these areas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA in east of Mindanao is still outside the country and has slim chance to enter within the next three days.

However, Aurelio said due to trough or extended cloudiness of LPA, light to moderate rainshowers is expected to affect Eastern Visayas and Caraga Region.

Aurelio said the northeast monsoon will continue to be the dominant weather system affecting Luzon while the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and the Provinces of Aurora and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with light rains.

The rest of Luzon including Metro Manila will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

With the presence of northeast monsoon, the weather bureau issued gale warning as strong to gale force wind will affect the seaboards of Luzon, Visayas and Eastern and Northern seaboards of Mindanao.

“Fisherfolks and those using small seacraft are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards,” it warned.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Metro Manila on Tuesday morning was recorded at 18.5 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m. which is higher compared to Monday’s minimum temperature at 18.3 degrees Celsius.

Metro Manila’s temperature readings are being recorded daily in the vicinity of the PAGASA Science Garden in Diliman, Quezon City between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.

The 18.1 degrees Celsius recorded last Jan. 27 in Metro Manila is so far the lowest for this year.

PAGASA said the all-time lowest temperature recorded in Metro Manila was at 14.9 degrees Celsius on March 1,1963.

The lowest temperature for this year was recorded in Baguio at 10.4 degrees Celsius last Jan. 24.

Baguio City, the country’s summer capital, continues to experience chilly temperature as Tuesday temperature will range from 11 to 20 degrees Celsius.

In its advisory, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the whole archipelago with moderate to rough seas. (PNA) LGI/CLTC
