RCWC Continues Accepting Pencils For Poor Students
The Regional Council for the Welfare of Children (RCWC) has been accepting pencil donation in line with the One Million Lapis campaign of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC).
Started in April this year, the campaign aims to collect one million pencils to be given to underprivileged students in elementary schools of 4th to 6th class municipalities and set a record in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The campaign is also part of the celebration of the 2016 National Children’s Month celebration in November.
“Individuals, groups, companies and institutions willing to share their pencils are welcome to join the campaign,” says regional director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre of DSWD-7.
She added that these organizations or institutions can drop their pencils in the drop boxes located in National Government Agencies and its Regional Offices and all SM Supermalls.
The DSWD Field Office VII also accepts pencil donations from the public and its staff.
As of now, DSWD has collected 18,515 pencils donated by the staff and other agencies like Children’s Legal Bureau (CLB), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine National Police (PNP), National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), National Nutrition Council (NNC) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Final counting and official declaration of Lapis generated will be on November 5, 2016 as a kick-off activity of the 2016 National Children’s Month celebration.
