PUJ Fare now P11 Nationwide Starting July 1
The petition of public utility jeepney (PUJ) operators was heard as the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) granted the increase of the minimum fare to PHP11 starting July 1, 2022.
A new fare increase also extends to modern jeepneys, as the LTFRB also increased their minimum fare to PHP13.
LTFRB released an order Wednesday, one day before President Rodrigo Duterte steps down from office, which mandates that the new minimum fare will only be applicable during the first 4 kilometers.
This means that there will be no increase in succeeding kilometers.
Moreover, the LTFRB order states that PUJ transport services will grant qualified senior citizens, students, and persons with disabilities discounted fares.
The minimum fare for the National Capital Region, Region 3, and 4 will be at P11 on July 1. This comes as the LTFRB already approved a PHP1 increase on the minimum fare of the said provinces on June 8.
Meanwhile, other regions will increase their minimum fare by PHP2 to match the PHP11 minimum fare nationwide.
Modern jeepneys, meanwhile, will increase their fare by PHP1 which effectively makes their minimum fare PHP13. (GFB)
