Philippines’ DOST-FIC Products Take Center Stage at Food Taipei 2017
Various novelty food products made from locally available raw materials are among the attractions at the FOOD TAIPEI (27th Taipei International Food Show) held on June 21-24, 2017 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall I and TWTC Exhibition Hall I.
These products were developed by the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology Food Innovation Centers or DOST FICs using DOST-designed and locally fabricated food processing equipment which includes vacuum fryer, spray dryer, water retort, and freeze dyer. DOST FICs are established nationwide to address the processing and technical needs of the Philippine food industry nationwide.
Among the new food products showcased at FOOD TAIPEI are vacuum-fried mixed vegetable chips, carrot chips, okra chips, squash chips; macapuno flakes, banana flakes, mango flakes; and jackfruit leather. All these were developed by the DOST-FIC Main lodged at the Food Processing Division of DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI).
The DOST, through ITDI is among the 16 companies/agencies from the Philippines joining other international food companies at the Taipei international food show.
