Pagserbisyo sa Katawhan Templahan ug Maayong Pamatasan
It looks like it’s the trend nowadays in the government service. Government employees having direct transactions with the public are becoming more brazenly disrespectful and outrageously abusive! I have just finished reading the latest issue of Via Times Newsmagazine, which is widely circulated in Chicago and Midwest Area, and I learned that our Philippine Consulate Office in Chicago is also inhabited by employees with extremely bad manners in attending to the needs of our fellow countrymen asking help for some vital information. There needs something to be done to protect the taxpayers interest, and it’s urgently needed to effectively address this crippling malady in public service!
Footnote: The above comment came about as an offshoot of a news item featured in Philstar about a BI supervisor found to have harshly mistreated a lady-teacher who was transacting business at the BI Office who inquired something about her husband’s papers if she (the wife) can make a follow-up without a written authorization because her husband was leaving and the document needed was scheduled for release at a later date. But the Immigration supervisor blurted out without any kind of decency and shouted at the top of his voice, “SHUT-UP!” to her surprise. When she tried to tell the supervisor he did not need to raise his voice when answering, he shut back telling her nobody can stop him to do the way he wants it. And it went viral in the Facebook registering 2,600 comments condemning the supervisor’s rough treatment. And Fred Mison, the BI Chief, promised to dig deeper into the case to let the Supervisor explain his side. Abigael Valte, the Malacañang spokeswoman, hinted it will not just end in scolding.
