OSCA Head Urges Fellow Seniors to be Active
Domingo Chavez, head of the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) encouraged his fellow Senior Citizens to get involved in the various activities, programs and projects for them.
In an interview with the BARUGG News, Chavez pointed out that as the Cebu City Government through the OSCA is celebrating the Senior Citizen’s Month for the whole month of October this year, series of activities will be conducted.
“Akong hangyo sa akong mga kaubanang Senior Citizens nga aktibo silang magpakabana ug mosalmot sa mga programa sa dakbayan sa Sugbo alang sa pagsaulog sa bulan sa mga Senior Citizens,” the OSCA head further enthuses.
Bearing the theme, “Pagbaton ug Pagtahud sa Katungod sa mga Katigulangan,” the OSCA set various activities for the Senior Citizen’s Month celebration this year.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama graced the Grand Opening Salvo of the said celebration held at the Plaza Sugbo last October 1. The Mayor bared that aside from the yearly P12,000 financial assistance for the elderly, the city also plans to add more services for them.
Meanwhile, on October 6 to 9 Senior Citizen’s organizations in the 80 barangays of this city will conduct activities in line with the celebration in the barangay level.
A ‘Senior Citizens Capacity Building Program’ is set on October 12 to 13 at the Cebu City Social Hall.
The ‘Bangga sa Awit ug Kundiman’ and the ‘Lahing Pilipino: Cultural Dance Palabas’ will be conducted also at the Cebu City Social Hall on October 15.
The celebration will be wrapped-up with a Grand Closing and Awarding Ceremony with Eucharistic Celebration and a ‘Tribute to the Senior Citizens’ on October 28 at the Cebu Coliseum. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P. Senados)
