Ocean Jet to Conduct Sea Trial in Liloan to Camotes Route

Liloan to Camotes will be made more accessible for travelers soon as Ocean Jet will conduct a “sea trial” on May 17 to determine whether the route is feasible.

Ocean Jet met with Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia on Monday to express their intention to conduct a sea trial in Liloan to Camotes Islands. The said sea trial will be done from Liloan in mainland Cebu to the Poro in Camotes Islands.

The sea trial will help Ocean Jet determine the speed of travel, the arrival time, and the cost of the trip for passengers.

Bryan Lua, who represented Ocean Jet, said that the passenger sea vessel can board 350 passengers at a time.

He added that the vessel can travel at a speed up to 22 knots or around 40 kilometers per hour which can travel from Liloan to Poro in Camotes Islands in one hour and 30 minutes.

After the sea trial on May 17, Ocean Jet will meet again with Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia about the results of their study.

Other players in the maritime industry, namely Super Shuttle Roro, have also shown interest in providing transport in the Liloan-Poro route.

The bus company Ceres Bus said they are willing to secure a franchise from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for the Cebu City to Camotes Islands route, which will board the Super Shuttle Roro. (ASC)
