NAPC and Argao Town Inks Agri Trading Post
The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) and the Argao Town in Cebu Province have inked their partnership to create an Agricultural Trading Post in the town to help farmers sell their products.
NAPC Secretary and Lead Convenor Lawyer Noel Felongco and Argao Mayor Allan Sesaldo have signed a memorandum of agreement for the implementation of the “Poverty Reduction through Rural Development (PRRD): NAPC-LGU Sambayanihan Serbisyong Sambayanan Prototype Projects”.
The Agricultural Trading Post and Enterprise Development initiative is part of the PHP3-million poverty alleviation program funded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) in partnership with NAPC.
The Agricultural Trading Post is worth P3 million, P2 million is said to be allocated for the Agricultural Trading Post’s construction and equipment acquisition; P500,000 will be for hauling support and vehicle provision; while the other P500,000 for capital infusion relative to the conduct of livelihood projects in the area.
The Agricultural Trading Post will be turned over to Argao after a year of operation.
NAPC said that Argao is one the priority towns of the prototype projects along with ayapa, Nueva Vizcaya; Majayjay, Laguna; Valladolid, Negros Oriental; Calbayog City, Samar; Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte; and Talipao, Sulu. (ASC)
