Militants set Explosions near Kabul airport
Heavily armed militants have launched an attack on a building near the airport in the Afghan capital on Monday.
The militant group said the Americans in the Kabul International Airport were targeted in the attacks.
According to Afghan authorities, the militants were firing from a nearby five-storey building. At least three people have been killed in the attacks.
All flights in Kabul International Airport have been cancelled following the assault.
According to Kabul police official Hashtmat Stanikzai, the attacks began with a large explosion in the building. At least five attackers then went out of the structure and exchanged fire with police.
According to witnesses, they heard loud explosions and gunfire coming from the airport early Monday.
Militant groups have carried out recent attacks on security forces across Afghanistan.
Last month, a suicide car bombing incident in Kabul killed at least 12 people, including six Americans.
