Microsoft Is Set To Reveal Windows 9 in April
Microsoft plans to release Windows 9 in April 2015, according to Microsoft blogger, Paul Thurrot.
The successor to 2012’s Windows 8, codenamed Threshold, will see a full return of the Start menu while also allowing users to run ‘Metro’ apps in desktop mode.
“To distance itself from the Windows 8 debacle, Microsoft is currently planning to drop the Windows 8 name and brand this next release as Windows 9. That could change, but that’s the current thinking,” the report claimed.
“Maturing and fixing the “Metro” design language used by Windows will be a major focus area of Threshold,” Thurrott added.
Microsoft’s annual Build conference in April was expected to focus on Windows Phone and the Xbox One, although the launch of Windows 9 will likely take center stage.
Microsoft is currently working on ‘Update 1’ for Windows 8.1 which will both likely be unveiled in April 2014.
