JVR to Appoint Son as Administrator

Despite possible rejection from the City Council later on, Talisay City Mayor-elect Johnny V. Delos Reyes (JVR) is set to appoint his own son as city administrator.

Delos Reyes said he has trust and confidence of John Yre, 31, to perform his duties as city administrator. Asked if the appointment would be denied by the City Council, Delos Reyes said he would worry about that when it happens. The next City Council will be composed mainly of opposition councilors with only three from Delos Reyes’ party.

Meanwhile, Prolaine Daclan of the Civil Service Commission 7 said there is nothing illegal about the appointment as the position is not covered by the rules of nepotism.  There may, however, problems in the future, if and when the Council refuses to concur with the move, she said.
