Iloilo Showcases Strength on Education, Health and Wellness
Iloilo City (PNA) — Iloilo was privileged to have an opportunity where it can showcase its strength on education and health and wellness in addition to proving its capability to handle international events with its ongoing hosting of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings.
Iloilo City currently hosts eight universities producing more than 25,000 graduates annually, providing the much needed manpower of the growing industries here.
On the other hand, health and wellness is booming with the city government partnering with institutions to train the needed manpower.
The city’s more than two-kilometer Esplanade has been a destination for health buffs doing an early morning or afternoon jog and ‘Zumba’ dance.
Nonetheless, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog underscored that the strong points for Iloilo is really its tourist destination and for serving as gateway to Western Visayas.
He added that guests coming to Iloilo for the APEC meetings will be talking about their experience here thus attracting more people to visit this part of the country.
More visitors would mean increased sales on retails and revenue for hotels, hence more jobs and more food on the table, he said. (PNA) LAP/AJP/PGLENA/CBF
