HIV Cases Drops in Consolacion Town

As Consolacion town celebrates its annual International Aids Candlelight Memorial Day, the local government also announced the reduction of Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV-AIDS) cases.

Consolacion Municipal Health Office reported that there are now only 12 active cases in Consolacion.

Consolacion Mayor Joannes Joyjoy Alegado who graced the event, said that self-control can help solve and prevent the spread of HIV-AIDS.

“There’s only one thing that can solved the spread of HIV, which is self-control ra gyud. A strong and good self-control will prevent us from contracting the disease, kay it is sexually transmitted or it is transmitted via drugs kanang sharing of needles,” Alegado said.

Alegado also clarified that people with HIV-AIDS should not be treated as outcasts instead these people need sympathy as they are also victims of this disease.

The public is also urged to get HIV tested as HIV testing is free.

Every third week of May, Consolacion town holds a Candlelight Memorial Day, commemorating the HIV victims who passed away and also honoring the people who gave their effort to help people with HIV-AIDS. (ASC)
