Google Confirms Android M is Called Marshmallow
Google has finally confirmed its newest version of Android – Marshmallow.
Back at its I/O conference in June, Google had only revealed its nickname, ‘M’ for the upcoming Android 6.0.
Google’s Product Manager for Android, Jamal Eason, revealed the name in a blog post Monday announcing the final preview version of the upcoming operating system.
“Today with the final Developer Preview update, we’re introducing the official Android 6.0 SDK and opening Google Play for publishing your apps that target the new API level 23 in Android Marshmallow,” Eason wrote on the Android Developers Blog.
The upcoming version of Android will come with a suite of improvements, including improved battery life, more control over app permissions, support for USB Type-C ports, and Android Pay, Google’s new mobile payments platform.
Google has not yet revealed precisely when Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be released to the public.
