Google Announces Android 5.0 Lollipop
Google announced Android 5.0 Lollipop, its latest version of the world’s most popular mobile platform. Lollipop features a redesigned user interface referred to as Material Design, along with improvements to the lock screen and notification menu. The update also delivers improved battery life and performance.
Lollipop will also include a protection against resetting the phone to factory defaults, which is designed to make it difficult for phone thieves to use a stolen device. Many of these features have been implemented by various Android device makers on their own smartphones and tablets for some time, but Google is now making sure they are part of the core Android experience.
Android Lollipop will make its debut on the new Nexus 6, a big-screen smartphone from Motorola; and the Nexus 9, an 8.9-inch tablet by HTC. Google also confirmed that Lollipop is coming to the Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, as well as Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks.
The Android 5.0 SDK is going to be available on Friday, Oct 17.
