The AIESEC Alumni Philippines got valuable leadership insights from Globe Telecom President & CEO Ernest Cu at a recent Global Leadership Roundtable (GLR) held at The Globe Tower, the telecommunication provider’s headquarters in Bonifacio Global City.

GLR is a roundtable interaction between 10-12 AIESEC Alumni and a chief executive officer. As the alumni-participants interact with CEOs on leadership concepts and experiences, the GLR also contributes to the body of knowledge on Leadership in the AIESEC Alumni world and helps to build its Leadership Competency Model. The roundtable interaction with Cu was the first pioneering AIESEC GLR effort and the model will be replicated across other companies and industries in the country moving forward.

Cu talked about disruptive leadership and emphasized how this kind of leadership calls for the ability to understand and adapt to the ever-changing demands of the local as well as the global market. His philosophy entails enabling and empowering individuals to relentlessly pursue innovation and change as the company builds a culture that is primarily focused on its customers, clearly evident on how Globe continuously operates as a successful brand leader today.

He identified three basic personal tenets: treating people the way you want to be treated, walk the talk, and enjoy work. These also reflect the main principles that fundamentally reflect Globe’s main thrust as a company in continuously creating and adding value to its customers, employees and the rest of its stakeholders.

The GLR builds on AIESEC Alumni Philippines’ theme to connect, collaborate and contribute to Leadership in the Philippines and globally. AIESEC Alumni Philippines is the Philippine association of the international graduate organization of the global youth group AIESEC, which has around 18,000 graduates in the Philippines and around 1 million graduates around the world.

“What we want to address by way of the GLR is to understand the challenges of leadership in the world and commit to develop our AIESEC Alumni members in the Philippines and around the world,” said Mignon Ramos, president of AIESEC Alumni Philippines.

AIESEC is the global youth network impacting the world through leadership development experiences. AIESEC has been facilitating youth leadership activities as well as international internships & volunteer experiences for over 65 years, developing a global learning environment across 124 countries & territories.
