A few more weeks and the exciting night when museums and heritage sites in Cebu are open to visitors would already be here!

Happening every last Friday of May, this year’s Gabii sa Kabilin will be on May 30, with more than 30 museums and heritage places across the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Talisay that have already expressed their intention to join the one-night celebration.

Now on its 8th year, the Gabii sa Kabilin is a special annual event in Cebu where museums and heritage places are open to guests from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Specifically, the participating sites are the Casa Gorordo Museum, Cathedral Museum of Cebu, Cebu City Hall, Cebu Provincial Capitol Building, Don Sergio Osmena Memorabilia and CAP Art Gallery, Fo Guang Shan Chu Un Temple, Fort San Pedro, Iglesia Filipina Independiente Cathedral of the Sto. Niño, JRG Halad Museum, Museo Parian sa Sugbo, Museo Sugbo, Plaza Independencia, Plaza Parian, Sacred Heart Parish Church – Alternative Contemporary Arts Studio, San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish Church, Sugbu Chinese Heritage Museum, UCCP – Bradford Memorial Chapel. University of the Philippines – Cebu, University of Southern Philippines Foundation – Rizaliana Museum, Anthill Fabric Gallery, Basilica Minore del Sto. This year’s Gabii sa Kabilin, which celebrates the International Museums Day and the National Heritage Month, carries the theme “Rise of the Queen.” Its focus will be on how Cebu, the “Queen City of the South,” developed and become the most prominent metropolis in this part of the country.

As Cebu positions itself to become a global and more ‘livable’ city, the story of the rise of Cebu would be retold in the Gabii sa Kabilin.

Everyone, therefore, are encouraged to reserve their tickets now for this night of cultural shows, special exhibits, children’s activities, food fairs, and other fun-filled and educational activities.

For ticket reservations, contact any of the participating museums and heritage sites. The phone numbers of the sites and updates on Gabii sa Kabilin can be had at www.rafi.org.ph. Interested individuals and groups may also call (032) 418-7234 loc. 703.

The Gabii sa Kabilin is initiated by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) with the cooperation of the participating museums, the local government units of the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Talisay, and the province of Cebu, Department of Tourism – Central Visayas and the National Commission for the Culture and Arts.
