Free Tours for Palaweños to Famous Underground River Up in Puerto Princesa
(PNA) — Palaweños can now exclusively enjoy free tours on certain days that are being offered by the management of the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR).
Launched under the “Alay sa Puerto” program, the free tours are offered for 100 Palaweños on all Tuesdays and Thursdays for the whole month of September.
Complete with licensed tour guides, those who will be accommodated will start the journey riding a bus that will take them to the wharf at Sitio Sabang, Barangay Cabayugan, where the PPUR is located inside a park reserve.
Elizabeth Maclang, the PPUR park superintendent, said the free tours are only available to locals, who haven’t visited the park yet. This for them to personally see the park’s natural beauty.
They will be familiarized about the history of the park, the biodiversity it cradles, the life in the area that is now famous the world over, how to take care of the environment, and others.
Under the program, senior citizens, indigents, and students will be given priority as they are those who do not have enough financial opportunity to afford the tour.
Maclang added the PPUR is the pride of Palaweños. This is why the residents of the province should be familiar with it in order for them to help protect, preserve, and conserve it.
The city’s underground river was earlier named as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. (PNA) LGI/BNB/CARF/EBP
