Five Visitors on Napoles’ First Day in Laguna Jail, Says PNP
Philippine National Police on Monday said the alleged P10-billion pork barrel scam suspect, Janet Lim Napoles had at least five visitors on her first day in Fort Sto. Domingo detention in Laguna.
Spokesman Senior Superintendent Ruben Theodore Sindac said the visits took place between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. He, however, did not name the visitors, Gma news online said.
The online news said that report over dzBB radio said Napoles’ visitors would be limited to her legal counsel and family members while a separate report by radio dzBB’s Allan Gatus said the five included two lawyers and three of Napoles’ children.
The online news added the PNP Special Action Force Director Carmelo Valmoria has named the five visitors as Napoles’s children James, Christian, and Christine; and lawyers Bettina Zamora and Deanna Singian.
The online news said it was a quiet first night for Napoles in her new detention area at Fort Sto. Domingo.
There are no picket or other incident reported from Sunday night to early Monday as the Philippine National Police’s Special Action Force kept tight guard over the area.
The PNP-SAF inspected all vehicles at the facility’s outer perimeter gate, radio dzBB’s Manny Vargas reported early Monday. The online news said even vehicles of SAF personnel entering the area were subject to strict inspection.
On Sunday morning, Napoles was transferred to Fort Sto. Domingo amid tight security.
In the afternoon, a group of anti-graft activists held a picket in front of the facility and were met by SAF anti-riot personnel, but they peacefully held a picket and left quietly, Gma news online reported.
Napoles surrendered last Aug 28 to President Benigno Aquino III in Malacañang, after Aquino announced a P10-million reward for her capture. Napoles has since been detained at PNP headquarters in Camp Crame and at the Makati City Jail, Gma news online reported.
