Emong is Out, Fabian is In, Says Pagasa
Tropical storm “Emong” was moving out of the country, but a tropical depression was spotted this morning in Iba, Zambalez.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Emong was last seen at 4 am Thursday in Basco, Batanes. But in its 11 am weather bulletin, PAGASA said a “low pressure area (LPA) West of Batangas has developed into a Tropical Depression and was named ‘Fabian’.” Fabian has a maximum winds of 55 kph near the center, and is moving north northwest at 11 kph.
PAGASA forecast that this tropical depression will be 350 km West of Sinait, Ilocos Norte by Friday morning, and 410 km Northwest of Laoag City or outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday morning.
“Tropical Depression “Fabian” has no direct effect to any part of the country. However, it will enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to occasional heavy rains and thunderstorms over the western section of Luzon particularly Palawan,” read PAGASA’s bulletin.
