Elon Musk Cries Foul After Being Voted to Step Down on Twitter Poll He Started, Signals Change in Polls

Twitter chief executive officer Elon Musk polled the users of his recently bought social media platform for USD44 billion on whether he should step down as the platform’s top executive. After being voted to step down, he opted to change instead how the polls would work.

This comes as Musk was having a polling spree as of late, opting to let Twitter users decide on sensitive matters such as the reinstatement of former President Donald Trump’s account, the provision of “general amnesty to suspended accounts,” and the reinstatement of tech journalists to Twitter after he suspended them, all receiving positive votes.

After Twitter users voted to reinstate Trump’s Twitter account, Musk tweeted “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” or “the voice of the people is the voice of God” in the English language.

However, after being voted to step down as Twitter CEO, Musk is seemingly ignoring the results, announcing that only “Blue subscribers,” or subscribers of Twitter’s paid monthly service that adds a blue checkmark to one’s account and offers early access to select new features, will have the power to vote on Twitter policy changes through polls, as one Twitter user said, “Blue subscribers should be the only ones that can vote in policy related polls.”

“Good point. Twitter will make that change,” Musk replied to the tweet.

Musk once again finds himself under heavy fire as he faces criticisms from all angles, including his management of Twitter, and the declining stocks of Tesla.

For Twitter, Musk has faced criticism for his rapid firing of Twitter staff, hastily releasing new features along with policies, only to revert them at a later time.

For Tesla, Musk is being pressured by shareholders to have someone else run his new social media platform as the electric carmaker’s stocks plummet.

Calls for his stepping down may be futile, as Musk tweeted two laughing crying emojis to CNBC and Bloomberg report that he is on the lookout for a successor. (GFB)
