DSWD7 Allocates P230M for Supplemental Feeding Program
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 has allocated P230,796,000 for the implementation of the supplemental feeding program in Central Visayas for 120 days.
DSWD7 officer Daphne Joyce Embradora this on Tuesday revealed that the implementation of the 120-day period feeding program has started from this month of July up to December this year.
“We are now on this fourth year implementation of this project starting 2011, one year after President Aquino was elected as our Philippine president”, Embradora said.
Embradora added that the project is specifically designed to all day care children who are to be fed once a day.
She said each day care child has a budget of P12.50 for food and the P2.50 of this budget is for rice, while P10 for viands and other nutritional food supplements.
Embradora explained that the DSWD entrusted to the local government unit of every municipality to handle the cash amount for each of their day care child in the barangays or sitios.
The day care in-charge is also delegating to some mothers who have talents for cooking the daily task of preparing the food for the children, Embradora said.
Embradora added, this is one way of reducing malnutrition among children particulalry in the rural areas.
Asked whether this government program will continue even beyond 2016 when Pres. Aquino will step down from presidency, she said “its better for the next president to continue this project or else he or she will be rejected by the people.”
