DSWD 7 Leads Celebration of 24th National Family Week
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7 leads the kick-off activity of the 24th National Family Week Celebration on September 24, 2016 at the Children’s Playground, Plaza Independencia, Cebu City from 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon to 7:00 o’clock in the evening. The celebration will end on September 30, 2016.
The event is a yearly celebration in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 60 signed on September 28, 1992 and Executive Order No. 241 dated June 9, 1995.
This week-long celebration slated on September 24-30, 2016 carries the theme “Matatag na Pamilya, Maunlad na Bukas”, which gives recognition to the contribution of a resilient Filipino family in achieving a better future.
“We expect 100 families to participate in this inter-agency program as we aim to raise public awareness on the importance of advocating for strong Filipino families,” says Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre of DSWD 7.
She added that this inter-agency gathering will engage the families into friendly games, a film showing on gender and family, sharing about disciplining children without harm and sharing of meals together with other families.
On September 30, DSWD 7 will hold a Family Day to be participated in by about 400 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries to discuss topics on family disaster preparedness, nutrition and responsible parenthood.
