The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) held a partnership meeting last April 26, 2024, at the Sheraton Manila Bay Hotel in Manila.

The meeting focused on operationalizing joint guidelines for the DOLE-DTI Initiative on Enterprise Development and Livelihood Assistance, particularly concerning the utilization of Negosyo Centers.

The program aims to support the growth and capacity building of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to preserve and generate jobs while improving productivity and competence.

Moreover, the National Employment Summit in June was also a topic to garner support for a 10-year Trabaho Para sa Bayan Plan.

The meeting also discussed the country’s involvement in the Global Accelerator program and collaboration between DTI and DOLE on trade negotiations, such as the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) and the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA).

The partnership session was attended by the different representatives from the International Labour Organization (ILO) and key officials from DOLE and DTI. (ASC)
