City Appreciates Model Policemen, OSY Scholars
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has recognized with appreciation the 24 out-of-school youth (osy) scholars and the two exemplary policemen during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony of the city government employees led by the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) last September 23, 2013.
The Mayor, along with councilor’s Mary Ann Delos Santos, Dave Tumulak, and Roberto Cabarrubias extended their congratulations to the OSY who have finished their short-term courses and to the policemen for serving as good example and inspiration to others.
The 24 scholars successfully graduated in a 5-month culinary arts with bread and pastry production and commercial cooking short-term course at the University of San Jose – Recolletos from February 6, 2013 to July 6, 2013. They received Php 20,000.00 each through the “Cash for Training Program’ of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The implementation of the program was facilitated by DSWS who have selected the OSY beneficiaries coming from the different Barangays in the city. DSWS has organized the OSY in the city with 40 members.
The two policemen who were recognized were Senior Police Officer 2 Egmedio B. Felisan, Jr., and Senior Police Officer 2 Isagani Ceniza, both from the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
SPO2 Felisan has brought honor and pride to the Cebuanos after being awarded as National Champion in the recently concluded 3rd Nationwide Model Family this year.
SPO2 Ceniza has turned-over a huge amount of money and other valuables he found in a taxi last week. Ceniza refused to receive the reward from owner, balikbayan Erlinda Fleming. (By: Greggy Jiggs P. Senados, PIO Staff)
