ChatGPT Now Has Access to Updated Information Via the Internet
ChatGPT may now access the internet and provide updated information to its users, OpenAI announced.
This comes as artificial intelligence (AI) whose popularity grew exponentially last year, was only trained with data up to September 2021.
Any questions about current events and other matters after September 2021 were met with an “I’m sorry, but I cannot provide real-time information.” by the AI.
Now, paying users will have the ability to ask the chatbot about current events and other pressing matters, with OpenAI saying that the feature will be available for everyone else soon.
OpenAI posted its announcement on X, formerly Twitter.
“Browsing is available to Plus and Enterprise users today, and we’ll expand to all users soon. To enable, choose Browse with Bing in the selector under GPT-4,”
Meanwhile, OpenAI also announced in a blog post that ChatGPT will let the chatbot “see, hear, and speak.”
“We are beginning to roll out new voice and image capabilities in ChatGPT,” the Microsoft-backed company announced, allowing ChatGPT to have voice conversations with users, and chat about images that users will upload.
“Voice and image give you more ways to use ChatGPT in your life. Snap a picture of a landmark while traveling and have a live conversation about what’s interesting about it. When you’re home, snap pictures of your fridge and pantry to figure out what’s for dinner (and ask follow-up questions for a step-by-step recipe). After dinner, help your child with a math problem by taking a photo, circling the problem set, and having it share hints with both of you,” OpenAI said.
The new features will roll out to Plus and Enterprise in the upcoming weeks. iOS and Android users will also get the new features via the ChatGPT app. (GFB)
