Cebu Province Ranks First in CV for Revenue Collection

Cebu Province was recognized by the regional office of the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) as the top performer local government unit in revenue collection and assessment operations for the year 2014.

Governor Hilario P. Davide III credits this award to the joint effort of the Cebuanos and the Provincial Government workforce. He believes that the trust and confidence of the Cebuanos in this administration is a key factor for this achievement.

In June 2015, BLGF-7 conducted the performance evaluation of local treasurer’s and assessors in the four provinces, 16 cities and 116 municipalities of Central Visayas. Cebu province registered an average of 39.61% growth rate for revenue collection, making it the first in standing for the region.

Cebu province demonstrated a steady increase of collections on Real Property Tax and charges in 2013-2014. Total collections for real property tax, business tax, fees and charges and economic enterprise significantly increased in 2014.

Real property tax increased in growth by 10.01% while business tax grows by 24.88%. Collection for fees and charges grow by 503.81% and economic enterprise grow by 13.26%.

Growth rate is one of the key result areas in determining the LGU’s fiscal sustainability.
