Cebu PB Passes 15 Resolutions Setting Aside PhP40.9-M for LGUs’ Projects

The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) has passed 15 resolutions setting aside a total of more than PhP40.929 million in projects and financial assistance to local government units in the province.

The projects included agriculture-related infrastructure, renovation of evacuation centers, concreting of sports complexes and procurement of handheld radios, generator sets and water tanks.

The amount will be taken from the 20 percent of the Capitol’s Internal Revenue Allotment this year.

Cebu PB Member Celestino Martinez III proposed the highest amount at PhP28 million.

Martinez’s financial assistance include PhP23 million road construction, repair and rehabilitation of barangay roads in the towns of Barili at PhP4 million, Sogod at PhP2 million, Consolacion at PhP15 million and Poro in Camotes Island at PhP2 million.

A new generator set worth PhP1.350 million will be given to the City of Naga and Gilutungan, Cordova, while Tubod, Barili will receive PhP250,000 for the renovation of an evacuation center.

Martinez also proposed PhP2.5 million for the construction of a new school building at the Cebu Technological University in Tabogon, while PhP250,000 will be given to Lamac, Consolacion for the construction of a sports complex.

Financial aid will be extended to Gawi, Oslob worth PhP30,000 to build a Malabago water reservoir.

Cebu PB Member Peter John Calderon sponsored the appropriation of financial assistance worth PhP4 million for the concreting of the sports complex in Sibonga and purchase of water tank for Moalboal at PhP1 million.

In a separate resolution, Calderon also proposed to appropriate PhP205,000 for the purchase of a mini-ambulance for Bulasa, Argao.

Cebu PB Members Christopher Baricuatro and Thadeo Ouano sponsored the proposal to provide financial assistance to Calangcang, Badian and Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion for the purchase of handheld radios. The two barangays will be given PhP20,000 and PhP50,000, respectively.

Baricuatro also proposed to grant PhP20,000 financial assistance to Bonifacia Rendon Angana, a centenarian from Poblacion, Oslob, Cebu.

Another PhP2.5 million will be given to CTU Tabogon for the construction of a school building through the resolution sponsored by Cebu PB Member Sun Shimura.

Shimura also proposed to provide financial assistance to Poblacion in San Remigio, Sambag and Mabuli in Tabogon, and Sulangan in Bantayan with different amounts for various projects.

Cebu PB Member Alex Binghay authorized Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III to download PhP4.9 million to LGUs for agriculture-related infrastructure projects, while Cebu PB Member Grecilda Sanchez appropriated PhP150,000 financial aid to Duangan, Balamban for road rehabilitation.

Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale also appropriated PhP349,000 financial assistance for the different LGUs intended for various projects. (PNA) LGI/EB
